PRESS RELEASE – August, 2026
ARIZONA ACADEMY OF THE PERFORMING ARTS RECEIVES GRANT FROM ARIZONA COMMISSION ON THE ARTS
Arizona Academy of the Performing Arts (AAPA) has been awarded a $12,000 grant from the Arizona Commission on the Arts, an agency of the State of Arizona. The grant was one of 409 grants awarded this year to nonprofit arts organizations, arts festivals, and arts learning programs throughout the state, representing a total investment of $2,655,846.
The grant will support AAPA’s work over the coming year, as we plan exciting opportunities and collaborations for the 2027 Season.
“Creative expression is central to Arizona’s innovation, prosperity, and cultural vitality,” said Christina You-sun Park, Executive Director of the Arizona Commission on the Arts. “Through strategic grantmaking the Arizona Commission on the Arts directs public funds to organizations, festivals, and programs that strengthen communities, support the state’s creative workforce, and enhance quality of life across Arizona.”
In accordance with the Arts Commission’s strategic plan and governing statutes, schools and nonprofit arts organizations are awarded grants based on such factors as quality of programming, public benefit, and responsible stewardship of public funds.
Grant applications are reviewed through a rigorous and open panel process that is available to applicants as well as the broader public. Review panels are composed of community leaders, educators, arts administrators, and working artists from rural, urban, and suburban areas throughout Arizona. In addition, panels are chaired by Governor-appointed Commissioners.
The Academy is very grateful for the support of the Arizona Commission on the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and believing in the values and mission of our organization.
